To Trek or Not to Trek?

Rather unexpectedly, the fashion trends for 2017 pair sandals and socks together in what used to be called a fashion faux-pas. This trend is inspired by society’s growing interest in trekking. Indeed, believe it or not, but more and more holidaymakers pack their hiking shoes for a sporty vacation. Trekking is slowly, but surely, becoming another popular hit of modern tourism and trendsetting getaway breaks. And there’s no difficulty understanding why – It’s the best way to feel at one in nature and to make the most of your time in stunning landscapes. So if you want to join the trekking movement, all you need is a pair of heavy duty hiking shoes – don’t just pick your gym trainers, you will need sturdy shoes that can hold your ankles and feet safely -, some comfortable clothes and a backpack filled with energy snacks and first aid supplies.

Take It Easy

If you’re not a regular at the gym and looking for an easy climb, take a shot at the three mountains around Seefeld in Austria: The Seefelderspitze, Jochspitze and Reitherspitze. You’re looking at simple climbs and low altitudes, which is ideal if you are not adept to highly fit regimes, or if you are not used to altitude. Just a few hundred meters climb to the summit of each mountain, it might be a little challenging at first for your body to adjust to the oxygen, but you will soon ease into it. The panoramic views are so stunning that no matter how much your body may cry out for help, you’ll never regret the journey.

Find A Cause That Motivates You

If you want to take your trekking a little further, but also want to make it count, look for charities to support your sporty challenge. Ever-popular at the moment is the Great Wall of China trek, which is a charity hike of five days along the unmistakable wall. The Great Wall itself stretches for over 6,000km, so your trek will only take you through some of the historic towers and battlement stations along the way. If you’re tempted by the challenge, you can join the trek for as little as £199 as long as you meet the sponsorship requirements, which vary depending on the season. This is a beautiful adventure that will not only change your life – as such exploring challenges do – but can also improve the lives of others. What better reason to pick up your trekking gear?

Take to the Himalayas

If you’re fit and open to new challenges, you should research the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. This demanding circuit is consistently ranked among the top ten treks in the world, and it’s no wonder why when you discover the ancient teahouses, mountain peaks, rhododendron forest and clear alpine rivers. On average, trekkers spend between 16 and 31 days on the circuit, although you can pick a shorter alternative if you’re in a hurry. One would wonder why hurry when you are among such natural beauty? The circuit is highly challenging, and you’ll need park permits to be allowed on it, but those who’ve done it, as tough as it is, have not regretted a second of it.
